

The general rules of behavior in River Lakselva.
Anybody with a fishing licence, without regard to licence type, has rights to fish in the river where the association manages fishing.
Rotating fishing
Rotating fishing shall be practised. One moves downstream. Start fishing upstream other fishers. It is not allowed to hold fishing spots. It is your duty to make room for others.
Camping
Camping is only permitted minimum 100 meters from the riverside. Show respect to settlement and common traffic when you are camping. Camping with wagons/motor homes etc. by the riverside is forbidden.
Waste
Bring waste home. The river environment is a common responsibility.
Spawner
Do you wish to fish salmon in the future?
One is dependent to have spawner to secure future generations of salmon.
Lakselva shall have at least 3424 kg female salmon in the river at
spawning time.
Yearly counting of spawner gives answer.
Large female salmon is in charge of 95 % of the production in the river.
You cause the river, all other fishermen and yourself a great service by
avoiding to kill large female salmon. It is your duty to follow the quota
restriction. Over fish will lead to stronger regulations for fishing.
THIS IS A COMMON RESPONSIBILITY.
ONE PERSON CAN BE DESTRUCTIVE TO EVERYONE.
Release
So that the fish survives release the following is very important:
If the fish, that due to fish regulations must be released, is considered as more harmed than advisable, it must immediately be reported to the supervision.

Catch report
Every angler is committed by law to report catch. All catch must be
reported continuous. Released fish must also be reported.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT IN CONJUNCTION WITH ADMINISTRATION.
Anglers which do not report can not by new licence.
Fishing regulations for Lakselv watercourse 2011
1. Range of application
The rules apply for watercourses including main river, subsidiary streams and lakes with the existence of anadrom species of salmon.
2. Definitions
By anadrom species of salmon it means salmon, sea trout and sea char. By
freshwater fish it means all other fish in the watercourse that is not
anadrom species of salmon. By salmon it means all salmon that can not
with certainty be defined as deserted farmed salmon or pacific salmon
(rainbow trout, humpback salmon etc.) based on outer characteristics.
By winter fish it means salmon, sea trout and sea char which has spawned
in the autumn and passed the winter in the river.
3. Requirement for disinfection of fishing equipment
Fishing licence is not valid without a certificate of disinfection of: Fishing equipment and other potential pestiferous equipment which have been used outside the boarders of Finnmark fylke.
Moreover it is always applied that fishing equipment and other potential pestiferous equipment must be dry before use in the watercourse.
A certificate of satisfactory disinfection of fishing equipment, waders etc., shall be carried during fishing, and must be presented on request from bailiff and other control authority together with fishing licence and fishing charge card.
Requirement for disinfection of fishing equipment applies for the whole watercourse.
4. Fishing licence is personal and can not be transferred to others
Fishing licence is strictly personal and can not be transferred to others. Valid identification (bank card, passport, driving licence) must be presented when buying fishing licence and must be carried during fishing, and presented on request from bailiff and other control authority together with fishing licence, fishing charge card and a certificate of disinfection.
Fishing licence is not valid without presentation of identification.
It is the duty of the bearer of the fishing licence to give catch summary without regard to catch outcome.
Potential released fish must be reported as released fish.
5. Causes for an invalid fishing licence
Cardholder is permitted to fish with rod in the part that Lakselv house owners' association control. Excepted are private properties that are labelled in accordance with regulations.
6. Minimum size, winter fish and release
It is only permitted to fish salmon and sea trout which are at least 30 cm. Smaller fishes and winter fish must be treated gently and immediately be released back in to the watercourse.
Fish that is released must not be curved with gaff and not be lifted from the water more than necessary, and never be lifted by gills or tale, but held carefully under the belly while the hook is loosened. The fish must then be held at an even keel against the stream until it recovers ones strength to swim back in to the river.
7. Use of equipment
It is only permitted to use the following equipment: flies, worms (without sinker), spoons, spinners and wobblers. Fishing with shrimp is not allowed.
From 1st August and through out the season:
In zone 5, with exception of protection zones are flies, worms (without sinker), spoons, spinners and wobblers permitted through out the whole season.
When buying "Dry fly card" in zone 3 and 4 the following equipment restriction applies:
8. Quota
Quotas are strictly personal and can not be transferred to others.
The fish is measured from the cleft in the tail to the end of the nose.
It is the fishers' duty to bring measure, for example a mark of 80 cm. on the fishing rod.
With doubt the salmon must be released.
9. Fishing period and protection zones
The fishing period for the watercourse is from 1.July to 31. August with restrictions according to protection zones, private fishing and use of equipment.
Sale of 24 hour card in sea zone and zone 1 starts 15.June.
Fishing period salmon under 80 cm. 10.June 0000 to 31.August 2400.
Fishing period salmon over 80 cm. 10.June 0000 to 10.August 2400.
Fishing period sea trout 10.June 0000 to 31.August 2400.
Fishing period sea trout zone 1 + parts of zone 2 24.June 0000 to
15.September 2400.
Sea char is preserved in watercourse.
After 10.August it is not permitted to use gaff.
Fish which is harmed, which not can be released must be reported immediately to the supervision for Lakselv house owners' association.
10. Protection zones in watercourse
Skoganvarre, watercourse - preserved for salmon fishing from 31.July 24.00
(scouring and rapids at the upper side of Skoganvarre bridge).
Zone 4 (Goutko) - preserved for salmon fishing from 31.July 24.00.
Nedrevannsbrekket in zone 3 - preserved for salmon fishing from 31.July
24.00 (the distance from Nedrevann to Loumbola).
Territories in Voullajåkka - preserved for salmon fishing from 31.July 24.00.
When fishing for other species than salmon, the following equipment restrictions applies in protection zones:
11. Fishing closure
Lakselv house owners' associations' board can close down fishing, or introduce additional restrictions in use of equipment and fishing if there is little anadrom fish run to the watercourse, or if other conditions makes closedown necessary.
12. Ice fishing for freshwater fish with rod and hand-held line
In the lakes Nedre- and Øvrevann, ice fishing for freshwater fish is only permitted more than 200 metres from the waters entrance and exit with rod and hand-held line from 1.January to ice break-up. In the lake Nedrevann icefishing is only permitted south of islet near waters exit. When ice fishing in lakes it is permitted to use angleworm, insect larval and octopus as bait. Fishing with standing lines or line is not allowed.
Wild salmon, sea trout and sea char that is caught must immediately be released in to the watercourse.
13. Net and otter fishing
Fishing with net and otter is forbidden in the watercourse.
